"STUDENT" MOVERS
Just wanted to update everyone on our "move". What a story this is becoming...as we like to say in the biz, "it's a developing situation".
I put the word MOVE in quotation marks because it's been anything but. I'll put it as bluntly as I can - we are moving as efficiently as the LSU offense.
We were scheduled to "move" this past Saturday, but because of Hurricane Rita, we rescheduled for Tuesday at 12:00noon.
The movers arrived seven hours late! And - they brought a medium truck when we asked for a LARGE truck.
Oh - it gets better - the house we are "moving" to is not ready and does not have electricity, so that meant moving boxes in the dark - which meant breaking things and tripping over furniture. (The only time I bleed is when I scratch a mosquito bite too hard, now I am bleeding from vicious cardboard cuts)
Everyone was so tired, we just threw (in some cases, literally threw!) boxes into the house randomly, which essentially means - they're not even in the right room. For instance, Abby has boxes labeled "KITCHEN" in her closet!
We "moved" the last box at 1:30am, but because they brought the MEDIUM truck, not everything fit - so we have much more left at the old house and we have to do it all over again Saturday!
And keep in mind - our new house isn't even ready for occupancy! Jen and I are living with friends right now, and the kids are with her parents in Mandeville...
Please pray for us. A move is stressful enough - but when you throw all this junk into the mix - it's NUTS!
In the end, however, we are so thankful just to have a home.
By the way - don't EVER use Student Movers. They were anything BUT students - pot-bellied 40-yr old high drop outs, who smelled like your used Def Leppard concert T-shirt.
And oh yeah - I forgot the best part - as we rolled out, they stopped at the convenience store for a six pack, which they completely finished by the time we got to Walker....nice....
